Convert a Markdown table to JSON or CSV. Review the headers and pick each column's type, so IDs and leading zeros stay as they are.
What is Markdown Table to JSON/CSV?
Markdown Table to JSON/CSV is a free online tool that converts a Markdown table to JSON records or to CSV in your browser. You pick the table, review its headers and choose the type of each column, so IDs and numbers with leading zeros are not changed by accident.
What it supports
- JSON: an array of objects whose keys come from the header row.
- CSV: the headers in the first row, with a value in quotes only when it holds a comma, a quote or a line break.
- For JSON, choose each column type: Text, Number or Null. CSV keeps the cell text.
Good to know
- Values stay text unless you pick another type. 007 stays 007, and a number that could lose digits is refused instead of rounded.
- Duplicate or empty headers are renamed, for example name_2 or column_1, and you are told.
- In CSV, a cell that starts with =, +, - or @ is flagged, because a spreadsheet could read it as a formula.
How do I use Markdown Table to JSON/CSV?
- Paste Markdown that contains a table, or open a file.
- Choose Table and Format (JSON or CSV). For JSON, set Column types; Null accepts only empty cells or the word null. With Auto off, press Convert.
- Copy the result or download it.
Example
A table with an ID that starts with zeros.
| id | name |
| --- | --- |
| 007 | Bond |
[
{
"id": "007",
"name": "Bond"
}
]The id stays "007" because columns are text unless you choose another type.
Limits and privacy
Limits
- Text: up to 2,000,000 bytes of UTF-8 (about 2 MB). Accented letters and emoji take more than one byte each. Larger input or generated text is rejected.
- Tables: a table with more than 50,000 cells is rejected.
Is my content sent to a server?
No. Your content and files are processed in your browser and never uploaded. OCR and PDF reading download processing files, including OCR language data and the PDF worker, from this same site only when those tools run; no content goes to third parties. Markdown previews show external images as alt text instead of loading them.
Copying puts a result on your clipboard and downloading saves it as a file, but only when you press the button. The file is created in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
